SEENET-MTP mourns the passing of Prof. Dr. Argyris Nicolaidis

With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Argyris Nicolaidis last month in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Argyris Nicolaidis obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in the domain of Theoretical Physics of Elementary Particles. From 1980 he was a professor at the Theoretical Physics Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

His scientific work was centered on Quantum Chromodynamics, the phenomenology of particle interactions, neutrino astrophysics, relational logic, the foundations of quantum mechanics, and several others. He was also an active participant in the dialogue Science–Philosophy–Religion and coordinator of projects such as “Cosmos in Science and Religion” and “Science-Religion Interaction in the 21st Century.” He organized numerous workshops, public conferences, and outreach activities.

Argyris Nicoalidis was among the founders of the SEENET-MTP Network, a representative of the Greek HEP community and Aristotle University in the Networks’ Committees, a lecturer, a promoter, and an active and excellent host in many mobility programs for more than 15 years.

The SEENET-MTP will keep memory on Argyris Nicolaidis.
